Paint a Galaxy
Night Sky 🌌

Using your large flat brush, apply Lamp Black evenly across the entire canvas. Make sure every corner and edge is covered — this is the deep space background. No pencil sketch needed for this painting. Let dry for 1–2 minutes before moving on.

Load your round brush with Ultramarine and paint a loose oval shape in the center of the canvas using circular, swirling strokes. Then rinse your brush and load it with Violet. Blend Violet around the outside of the Ultramarine area, using the same swirling motion to create a soft transition. Work while the paint is still wet for the smoothest blend.

Using Cobalt Blue, continue blending outward from the Violet area with sweeping circular strokes. This creates a glowing blue halo around the galaxy core. Let the Cobalt Blue fade naturally into the black background — don't try to make a hard edge. The gradual transition gives the galaxy its luminous, glowing appearance.

Using a fine brush and Titanium White, densely dot the very center of the galaxy with small white dots. The closer to the center, the more dots — this creates the bright, glowing star cluster at the galaxy's heart. You can layer multiple coats of white for extra brightness. Work outward with fewer and fewer dots as you move away from the center.

Using a fine brush, dot Titanium White stars of varying sizes across the entire canvas. Concentrate more stars near the galaxy core and fewer toward the edges. For a few of the larger stars, add a small cross shape (+) to create a twinkling highlight effect. Keep most stars as simple dots — variety in size makes the sky feel deep and realistic.

Using a fine brush and Lemon Yellow, add a tiny warm yellow dot to a handful of the larger stars scattered across the canvas. This subtle touch of warmth makes the stars feel more alive and adds beautiful color contrast against the cool blue-purple galaxy. Your galaxy night sky is complete! 🌌
